Rustic Farmhouse Meets Industrial: A Kitchen & Bathroom Makeover

Rustic Farmhouse Meets Industrial: A Kitchen & Bathroom Makeover

There’s something special about a home that feels warm, lived-in, and full of character while still offering the function of a modern renovation. For this kitchen and bathroom makeover, we blended rustic farmhouse charm with industrial-inspired details to create spaces that feel comfortable, distinctive, and cohesive.

The finished design combines natural wood tones, muted colors, black metal accents, clean tilework, and plenty of texture.

A Warm, Rustic Kitchen with Industrial Character

Here are some of the design images we created to help the clients image their new kitchen before the project started. We wanted the kitchen to make an immediate statement with its soft green shaker-style cabinetry. The color adds warmth without overwhelming the space and creates the perfect backdrop for the mix of rustic and industrial finishes.

Light countertops keep the kitchen bright, while we originally made the design with subway tile the clients ended up selecting a herringbone-pattern backsplash that adds subtle texture and movement. Stainless steel appliances bring in a modern touch that pairs well with the darker hardware and fixtures.

One of the standout features is the large peninsula and seating area. We ended up wrapping the front in rustic wood planks in a mix of natural tones, giving it a reclaimed, handcrafted look that makes this farmhouse design so inviting. Industrial-style stools with black metal frames and wood seats complete the look.

Above the peninsula, black metal cage pendant lights complement the exposed ceiling structure and ductwork. Rather than hiding the industrial character of the space, the design embraces it.

Details That Make the Kitchen Feel Personal

Floating wood shelves add warmth and provide an open display area for baskets, plants, décor, and everyday pieces. Their rich finish ties back to the peninsula and flooring.

A matte black commercial-style faucet adds another industrial element and creates a strong contrast against the light countertop.

Together, the open shelving, natural textures, black hardware, and farmhouse accents give the kitchen a collected and welcoming feel.

Carrying the Style Into the Bathroom

The bathroom continues the farmhouse-industrial theme with a lighter, relaxed feel.

Horizontal shiplap-style walls bring classic farmhouse character into the room, while a warm wood vanity adds contrast against the lighter walls, countertop, and flooring.

Black fixtures carry the industrial influence throughout the space. The faucet, mirror frame, shower fixtures, and custom pipe-style shelving all work together to create a cohesive look.

Above the toilet, wood shelves supported by black iron pipe fittings provide both useful storage and a unique design feature. Hooks underneath add even more function without taking up additional space.

A Shower Designed to Stand Out

The walk-in shower becomes a focal point with its mix of clean tilework and dark accents.

A black-framed glass enclosure keeps the bathroom feeling open while tying into the other black metal elements throughout the room. Inside the shower, contrasting tile and matte black fixtures add depth and character.

The patterned bathroom flooring provides another subtle farmhouse detail and helps bring the entire space together.

Rustic Materials, Modern Function

What makes this renovation work is the balance between styles. Shiplap, rustic wood, open shelving, shaker cabinetry, and patterned tile bring farmhouse warmth, while black fixtures, pipe shelving, exposed ductwork, cage lighting, and dark-framed glass add an industrial edge.

The result is a kitchen and bathroom that feel welcoming, functional, and full of personality.
