One house, one plan, every room
Some homes need a new kitchen. This Martinsville home needed almost everything. The layout worked, but the finishes were dated, the flooring changed from room to room, and the unfinished basement was mostly storage.
The homeowners didn’t want to tackle it one project at a time over several years. They wanted to do it once and do it right. Morgan Remodel planned and managed the whole home remodel from start to finish.
What we did
- New flooring throughout the home
- Kitchen renovation
- Primary bathroom renovation
- Laundry room update
- Living room and bedroom updates
- Basement garage framed in
- New exit hallway with built-in mud cabinetry
- A room dedicated to baseball
- Fresh paint on every interior wall and all of the woodwork trim
Where it started
Before work began, the kitchen had dated cabinets and finishes that no longer fit the way the family lived. Down in the basement, the space was open concrete and exposed framing.
A kitchen built around how they live
The new kitchen centers on a large island with a dark base and bright white countertop, with plenty of room for seating. White perimeter cabinets, stainless appliances and built-in wall ovens keep the room clean and functional. It opens to the dining and living areas, so whoever is cooking is still part of the conversation.
Flooring and paint that tie it together
New flooring runs through the home, so every room now connects. We also painted every interior wall and all of the woodwork trim. That step costs less than a new kitchen, but it does as much as anything else in the project to make the house feel finished and consistent.
Living room
The living room got the same new flooring and fresh paint, with the fireplace and large sliding doors to the porch as its focal points. It’s now a bright, comfortable place to gather.
Primary suite and bathroom
The primary bathroom features a freestanding soaking tub, a long vanity with black fixtures and shiplap walls. The bedroom carries the same calm, finished look.
Laundry room
We updated the laundry room as part of the remodel so it matches the rest of the house and works better for everyday use.
A basement that works hard
The basement was the biggest change. We framed in a garage space with its own overhead door, which makes it easy to bring in equipment and keep projects out of the main house.
We also built a new exit hallway with built-in mud cabinetry. It gives the family a place to drop coats, bags and shoes on the way in, before any of it reaches the rest of the house.
A room just for baseball
Our favorite space in the house is the room dedicated to baseball. It has built-in cabinets and countertop, a desk area and plenty of wall space for jerseys, bats, signed memorabilia and framed photos. It’s a room built entirely around what this family loves.
The result
Instead of a house with a few updated rooms, the homeowners now have a home that feels new from the basement to the bedrooms. Every room shares the same flooring, paint and level of finish, and the basement went from storage to some of the most-used space in the house.
A whole home remodel takes careful planning, scheduling and coordination between trades. Morgan Remodel handles that for homeowners in Martinsville and across Central Indiana.
