From Outdated to Open and Spa-Like: A Primary Bathroom Transformation
This primary bathroom had plenty of space, but the original layout wasn’t making the most of it. A large corner jetted tub took up much of the room, while the stand-alone shower was small and enclosed. The long single-sink vanity and hardwood flooring also made the space feel dated.
Our goal was to create a brighter, more functional bathroom with a more open, spa-like feel.
Rethinking the Layout
The biggest change came from removing the oversized corner tub and small shower enclosure. This allowed us to completely redesign that side of the bathroom and give more space to the features the homeowners use every day.
In place of the small shower, we created a huge walk-in shower with frameless glass and large-format marble-look tile. The larger footprint makes the shower feel much more comfortable, while the clear glass keeps the room feeling open and bright.
The old corner tub was replaced with a beautiful freestanding soaker tub positioned between the windows. Its streamlined design takes up less visual space while creating a stunning focal point. A floor-mounted tub filler completes the clean, modern look.
Custom Details Throughout
The remodel also included new tile flooring, wall panel molding around the tub area, and a completely redesigned double vanity.
One of our favorite custom details is the medicine cabinet. We designed it with dedicated his-and-hers storage on each side, wrapped in beautiful warm wood to coordinate with the vanity below. Inside, adjustable glass shelves provide plenty of organized storage, while built-in sconce lighting is incorporated directly into the cabinetry for a polished, furniture-like look.
Paired with vessel sinks, wall-mounted faucets, and the spacious vanity, the entire wall feels custom, functional, and thoughtfully designed.
A Bathroom That Finally Fits the Space
The finished bathroom feels dramatically larger, brighter, and more intentional. By replacing an outdated corner tub and cramped shower with a spacious walk-in shower and elegant soaker tub, we were able to transform the way the entire room looks and functions.
It’s a great example of how thoughtful space planning can turn an outdated bathroom into a beautiful, relaxing retreat.
