A lake home that finally matches its view
This Martinsville home sits on one of the best lots on the water. The back of the house, though, wasn’t taking advantage of it. The rooms facing the lake were tight, the lower patio was open to the weather, and the pale siding had seen better days.
The homeowners wanted more living space, more light and more ways to enjoy the lake. Morgan Remodel designed and built an addition that delivers all three.
Where it started
Before construction, the upper level was held up by a row of aging wood posts over an open patio. The light blue vinyl siding was faded, and the exterior had no strong focal point from the lake side.
We started in October 2025 by clearing the overgrown landscaping, removing the old posts and preparing the site for new foundations on both ends of the house.
What we built
The addition has four parts that work together:
- Two new gabled wings. One on each end of the house, framed to match the existing rooflines. Each has a large picture window topped by an arched transom facing the lake.
- A full-width deck. It spans between the two wings on the main level, with a clean white railing that keeps the view open.
- A glass sunroom below. The old open patio is now an enclosed room lined with windows, with its own entry door to the yard.
- A new exterior. Navy vinyl siding, white trim and soffits, new gutters and a refreshed white stone base tie the old and new sections into one design.
From the yard, it now reads as one cohesive lake house rather than an original home with pieces added on.
Inside the new spaces
The primary bedroom. One wing became a spacious primary bedroom with a vaulted ceiling and hardwood floors. The arched window frames a direct view of the lake and the boat docks across the water. A side window adds morning light and treetop views.
The dining room. The other wing extends the kitchen into a bright dining area under its own vaulted ceiling. Standing at the kitchen island, you now look straight down the room to the lake. Wood-trimmed windows on three sides fill the space with natural light.
The result
The homeowners gained a new primary suite, a dining room with a view, a deck for summer evenings and a sunroom they can use in any season. Every new room faces the lake.
An addition like this takes careful planning: matching rooflines, tying into the existing structure and making new siding look like it was always there. That is the work Morgan Remodel does every day for homeowners in Martinsville and the surrounding area.
